Wellington Wine Route

The Wellington Wine Route promises an intimate and unique experience for people heading out into the Cape Winelands. This scenic route is just 45 minutes from Cape Town, but provides an intimate and unique experience. Although there are not huge amounts of estates like some of the better known wine routes, the quality group in Wellington will not disappoint you. They are also all close to one another, allowing for quick travel between estates and the chance to experience everything on offer. One of the benefits of visiting a smaller route is that you get to meet with the winemakers and learn more about their wines. This creates a more personal experience and a better understanding of what goes into making their magnificent wines. If anyone in your group or family is not keen on wine, then the brandy tasting at Oude Wellington is the perfect alternative.

Constantia Valley

Contact Details

The astounding Constantia valley sets the ideal background for a day of sensational wine tasting in the Cape Winelands. The valley has a moderate climate and rich soil to aid the growth of quality grapes, and is home to some of the oldest wine estates in South Africa. The first Cape governor Simon van der Stel chose to cultivate and develop the area in 1685. Since then, what was known as Constantia farm has now been sectioned into smaller farms, many of which are still churning out award winning wines. The route is around 15 minutes from the city, and stretches all the way through the valley on route to Hout Bay.
